About
Sofus Midtgaard is a Copenhagen-based strategist, advisor, and scenario planner specialising in artificial intelligence governance, strategic foresight, and organisational leadership. He is the author of AI 2035: Power, Governance and the Future of Society (2026), a scenario planning report examining how artificial intelligence will reshape political power, economic structure, and civic life by 2035. The report is built on the Shell scenario planning methodology and presents four structured scenarios: The Pushback, The Subscription, The Bloc, and The Blackout.
Midtgaard served as Head of Strategy & Innovation at DR (Danmarks Radio), Denmark's public broadcasting corporation, where he led strategic innovation, foresight and scenario planning work from 2001-2008.
He has advised and worked with organisations including LEGO, Nike, IKEA, Maersk, NASA, USAID, the US State Department, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Novo Nordisk.
He was the co-founder of New Media Days, one of Scandinavia’s leading digital media conferences; Rebuild21, a conference focused on organisational transformation and innovation; and Launch Nordic, a startup accelerator programme supporting early-stage founders accelerating sustainable innovations.
His work sits at the intersection of AI strategy, scenario planning, and board-level advisory. He conducts a limited number of advisory and board engagements annually, focusing on organisations facing high-stakes strategic decisions under conditions of genuine uncertainty. He is a keynote speaker on AI governance, strategic foresight, and the future of democracy and society.
