Sofus Midtgaard is a Copenhagen-based strategist, advisor, and scenario planner specialising in artificial intelligence governance, strategic foresight, and organisational leadership.

He is the author of: What now Europe? ” - a manifesto for a digital, cultural, and economic rebuild of Europe and AI 2035: Power, Governance and the Future of Society, a scenario planning report examining how artificial intelligence will reshape political power, economic structure, and civic life by 2035.

Sofus Midtgaard served as Head of Strategy & Innovation at DR (Danmarks Radio), Denmark's public broadcasting corporation, where he led strategic innovation, foresight and scenario planning work from 2001-2008.

He has advised and worked with organisations including LEGO, Nike, IKEA, Maersk, NASA, USAID, the U.S. State Department, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Novo Nordisk.

He was the co-founder of New Media Days, one of Scandinavia’s leading digital media conferences; Rebuild21, a conference focused on organisational transformation and innovation; and Launch Nordic, a startup accelerator programme supporting early-stage founders accelerating sustainable innovations.

His work is typically at the intersection of AI strategy, scenario planning, and board-level advisory.

Midtgaard is co-founder and Vice Chairman of GreenKayak, an environmental organisation offering free kayak trips in exchange for collecting waste from waterways, operating in Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg, Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki, and Tokyo.

He is based in Copenhagen.
